WHY IS FRIENDS HOUSE

HOSTING THIS TRAINING?

For more than 350 years Quakers (Friends) have opposed war. We utterly deny all outward wars and strife and fightings with outward weapons, for any end, or under any pretence whatsoever” (Peace Testimony, 1660)

Friends believe that more can be

accomplished by appealing to the capacity for love and goodness in ourselves and in others, than can be accomplished by threats of punishment or by retaliation.

We must turn instead to nonviolent strategies to influence those with whom we are in conflict.
